Agentic commerce readiness checklist
The checks our free scorecard runs, written out so you can work through them yourself. Each one is about whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or Google AI Mode can find, trust and sell a product.
1. Product data completeness
- Every product has a specific title: brand, product type and the attribute that matters most (size, model, material).
- Descriptions say what the product is, who it is for and what makes it different, in your words rather than the supplier's.
- Price, stock status, GTIN or MPN, brand and condition are filled in for every product, not just most of them.
2. Attributes
- Size, colour, material, compatibility and fit live in structured fields, not only in the description text.
- Attribute values are consistent: one spelling of each colour, one unit for each measurement.
- Variants are set up as variants, so an agent can answer “do you have it in a 10?”.
3. Images and alt text
- Every product has at least one clean image on a plain background, plus images in use.
- Alt text describes the product in the image, not the file name.
4. Structured data
- Product pages carry Product schema with offers, price, availability, brand and identifiers.
- Reviews and ratings, where you have them, are marked up and match what the page shows.
- The organisation, return policy and shipping details are marked up once and referenced, not duplicated.
5. Feeds
- Google Merchant Center accepts the feed with no disapprovals you have left unfixed.
- On Shopify, the Shopify Catalog and Agentic Storefronts settings are reviewed rather than left on defaults.
- On Magento, the catalogue is exposed through a maintained agentic-commerce module or endpoint.
6. Checkout protocol support
- Your platform supports at least one agent checkout protocol (UCP, ACP or an MCP endpoint), and a test transaction has gone through it.
- Shipping, tax and GST are calculated correctly for an order an agent places.
7. llms.txt and crawl access
- An llms.txt file points AI crawlers at your key category, product and policy pages.
- robots.txt does not block the AI crawlers you want to be found by.
8. AI-search visibility today
- Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot the questions your customers ask. Note whether you appear, and who appears instead.
- Check GA4 for sessions from chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com and copilot.microsoft.com, so you have a baseline.
Or let us run it. The free readiness scorecard checks your store against this list and tells you what to fix first.
